VIEWSONIC ANNOUNCES THE FIRST DIGITAL SIGNAGE SOLUTIONS THAT ELIMINATE THE LOCAL PC 23 August 2006 ViewSonic today bolstered its portfolio of digital signage solutions for retail, education and hospitality markets by unveiling its new NMP-500 Network Media Player at Hong Kong Computer & Comminuctions Festival 06. Featuring a fully featured Web browser and high-definition video processing capabilities, the NMP-500 media player is versatile display solutions for businesses that need to communicate digital media content to the masses. Streaming video and HTML information via Ethernet at up to 20 MB per second, both products integrate seamlessly with existing network infrastructure, translating into minimal start-up costs for customers. A key advantage of ViewSonic’s NMP-500 is that they are based on open standards including standard IP protocols for content management and streaming high definition video. A fully-featured Mozilla Web browser allows users to view HTML Web pages including Macromedia Flash animations while also streaming MPEG 1/2/4 video signals, in real-time.
